Lucy Pratt

Lucy Pratt is a contemporary figurative painter whose work celebrates ordinary people and extraordinary places. Represented by Fosse Gallery, Lucy creates expressive paintings inspired by life in the Cotswolds and her extensive travels around the world, from rural England to the temples of India. Her work invites viewers on a richly observed journey, capturing both the everyday and the unexpected with warmth, intensity and a deep appreciation for shared human experience.

Lucy’s still life, landscape, interior and figurative paintings radiate a distinctive inner light, conveying the atmosphere, movement and emotional character of a moment in time. Whether depicting wedding guests gathered in a country garden, sun-drenched figures beside a swimming pool, or quiet scenes from distant cultures, her paintings evoke the sounds, scents and energy of each setting. Travel plays an important role in Lucy’s practice, allowing her to engage with new communities and environments and translate these encounters into artworks filled with vitality and subtle humour.

Narrative and symbolism are central to Lucy’s work. A solitary blossom tree on an English hillside becomes a portrait subject in its own right, while a sun-dappled lane between hedgerows transforms into a pathway of possibility. Across more than thirty years as a professional artist, Lucy has developed an affectionate and perceptive eye for both humanity and the natural world, establishing her as one of the UK’s leading contemporary painters.

Lucy continues to exhibit internationally, drawing inspiration from each journey she undertakes. A curated selection of her original paintings is available through Fosse Gallery, showcasing her distinctive ability to reveal beauty, character and meaning in both familiar and far-flung places.
