June Redfern

‘I’ve lived and painted in Edinburgh and London, but 8 years ago, the chance of a top lit studio in a beautiful garden full of maple trees in the Cotswolds was too good to miss. Ever since I’ve been painting, I’ve chased shifting light, shadows and colour. The Cotswolds is conducive to soft, succulent, dreamy light. I’m trying to paint feelings, longings, an ethereal sense of being wrapped around colour and ever illusive luminosity.’ 

June Redfern is a renowned Scottish artist born in Fife. She studied Painting at Edinburgh College of Art. She is considered one of Scotland’s foremost expressionist figure and landscape painters. In 1986, she was the first Scottish woman artist in residence at The National Gallery in London and has frequently exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, when in 2023 she was invited to exhibit in the show.
