Anthony Yates RBA

Born in Aston, Birmingham in 1957. Attended Bournville College of Art. Elected member of RBA in 2005. Numerous awards include ‘Best Group of Paintings’ at the Mall Galleries 2005 and a prize in the RBSA Prize Exhibition 2012. Recent work has been shown at the Rye Art Gallery, East Sussex in 2013 and at Kings Place, London in the 2013 Ruth Borchard self-portrait competition. Has works in many private collections both here and abroad in France, Ireland and in Oregon and California USA.
Often choosing subjects from his immediate surroundings he pushes beyond objective reality and the vigorous handling of paint can belie the struggle to reach the final image.
