Annabel Playfair
Annabel’s earliest formal training was at The City and Guilds of London, which was structured around the classical fundamentals of drawing, perspective, colour and composition. She then completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the Chelsea School of Art, broadening her artistic appreciation to encompass Graphics & Illustration. The last piece of Annabel’s formal training was at Les Beaux Arts, Paris. Annabel spent a year drawing the human form and the bustling scenes of one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Annabel’s creative mind is constantly on the go, finding new inspiration every day, seeing a new painting wherever she looks. She is particularly inspired by the work of Post Impressionists with their use of colour and composition and would describe her style as ‘figurative and energetic’.
Places and scenes that have particularly inspired Annabel have included:
- Coastal scenes of Cornwall
- Tuscany and Umbria in Italy
- The sunflowers and vineyards of Gers, France
- The vineyards, olive groves and lavender of the Luberon region in France
Annabel’s work has included murals, publications, children’s books, private commissions/collections, as well as solo and mixed exhibitions in London, Edinburgh, East Anglia and the Cotswolds.
Her studio is based near Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds.
