In the Gloaming takes its name from the Old English glōmung—twilight. I have always loved this time of the day, the liminal space between what has been and what is to come, the sun sets and holds the mystery of what endures, even as it slips away. Gloaming is also from Old English glōwan, “to glow” which is an ongoing theme and something I try to capture, the pure and fleeting aliveness of things. The very nature of the colour in my work represents an affirmative yes to life. To the glow.

In these paintings, I explore that glow in both the ordinary and the extraordinary: the quiet joy of You as a Glorious Flower Pot, the still magic of Sundowner Time, and the tender wonder of Moments Like These. I am drawn to the glimmers that appear when we pause and truly see, when light and life meet.  Each work is an invitation to linger, to notice the radiance in what surrounds us, to feel yourself within the gentle pulse of existence, and to revel in the pure joy colour: You are Glorious, Please Continue!
