Dopamine Painting brings together an eclectic range of works from my studio on Dartmoor and studies in the field, with brightly coloured patchwork pieces, bouncy florals, turquoise seascapes and a whole troop of animals.

I’m really excited that it’s my first solo show with multicoloured frames and I think it will be a really high impact exhibition. The frames argue slightly with each painting which makes an amazing energy between the painting and the frame.

Normally I wouldn’t put this many paintings with differently coloured frames all in one room, so it’s really been an experiment. I just wanted to get across that overwhelming joy that’s found in all the very best things in life. Even on the darkest of days there’s always colour.

Studies show that the brain releases dopamine both when creating art, and when observing it. I certainly feel that lift when I’m painting, and I hope that this exhibition will have the same effect on you too.
