Samuel J Herman

Sam Herman (b. 1936) is an internationally known glass artist, painter and sculptor. He has exhibited extensively throughout the world and his work is in numerous public and private collections including the Victoria & Albert Museum, Metropolitan Museum, Smithsonian, Art Institute of Chicago, Fitzwilliam Museum and the National Gallery of Victoria. Born in Mexico and brought up in New York. Sam has an MS degree in Fine Art from the University of Wisconsin. He came to the United Kingdom on a Fulbright Scholarship in 1965 and became a tutor at the Royal College of Art in London in 1969. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Art. He remained there until going to Australia in 1974 at the invitation of the South Australian Government to work at the Jam Factory in Adelaide. In 1979 in returned to the United Kingdom to set up his own studio and between 1979 and 2007 concentrated mostly on painting and sculpture from his studios in London and Spain. In 2012 he moved his London studio to Gloucestershire.
